Tips for Productively Working From Home
Working from home is key in helping contain the spread of #COVID19 as it help employess practice one of the key public health recommendations: physical distancing.
Here are a few tips we encourage our employees to follow at Deco Wood Decoration:
1. Set up your workspace
This will be the space that you do your work. If you do not have a home office, you can set up at your kitchen table or any place that is conducive to working that will allow you to stay focus on your work. It’s important to keep your workspace comfortable but not so comfortable that will make you slack off.
2. Stick with your routine
Sleeping in until noon sounds fun but it won’t help you get things done. Try waking up early, take a shower, eat your usual breakfast or have a cup of coffee. Pretend like you are actually going to work, this will help you prepare your mind and body for a productive day of working.
3. Have a to-do list
It is so easy to be distracted while working from home, having a to-do list will help you visualize your progress. List down all the priorities you need to accomplish during the day, try to stick with your schedule.
Make sure to communicate with your colleagues and check-in with your boss from time to time. Communicate proactively when you are tracking or ahead of your goals. If you are behind, don’t hide it. Be transparent and proactive. Tell your manager what you are doing to address the gap and ask how they can help.
5. Take breaks and relax
Balance is the key to success! Take care of yourself and give yourself enough time during the day to walk away from your computer screen or phone. Listen to some music, play with your pets, or watch some funny videos online.
Working from home is not easy, its takes a lot of discipline. It may take a little time to find the right way but if you follow the tips above you’ll find it a lot easier.
